About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Payroll Accountant to join our US Payroll team to pay our employees timely and accurately. This role is perfect for someone who is comfortable working individually in a fast-paced environment but also able to collaborate and be a team player. You will help with the payroll process plus help develop process improvements to maintain accuracy, quality and efficiency of the payroll process. You will report to the Payroll Team Lead.

What You'll Own

  • Process the semi-monthly payroll for Canada and US employees in multiple states and set up new states when needed
  • Assist in payroll related processes including reporting and tax compliance
  • Record all payroll related transactions and accruals
  • Monitor the integration of Workday with ADP WorkForce Now as it relates to onboarding new hires, terminations and other changes impacting payroll and coordinate with HR and IT department for any issues noted
  • Perform monthly reconciliation and analysis of salary expenses, group benefits, bonus expenses, payroll taxes, PTO, flex spending accounts, manual payroll checks and employee deductions
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all filings in ADP WorkForce Now
  • Respond to employees on payroll related inquiries in a timely manner
  • Maintain necessary procedures and internal controls related to payroll accounting
  • ‌Monitor employee PTO balance and usage and include such data in each month-end close/payroll cycle
  • Assist the accounting team with ad-hoc project

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree required, in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience handling payroll in a multi state environment
  • Proficient using Excel (can perform complex functions)
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now, Workday and NetSuite is strongly preferred
  • Experience processing all types of stock transactions, and an understanding of the tax implications of each type (i.e., NQSO, ISO, RSU, and ESPP) is a plus
  • Excellent organization skills; ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines is required
  • Ability to "roll-up sleeves" and apply an analytical mindset to resolve complex problems.
  • Positive and customer service-oriented attitude
  • CPP/FPC a plus, but not required
